Voluntary Action Fund (VAF)

The Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is an independent grant-making body which invests in voluntary and community based organisations across Scotland. The funding and support enables organisations to implement projects that challenge inequalities and overcome barriers to active participation in community life.

Completed projects:

Programme evaluation of the Race Equality, Integration and Community Support Fund and the Scottish Refugee Integration Fund (2009)

This project involved an evaluation of two funding programmes as they came to an end. The reports celebrated the achievements of the programmes and highlighted learning for the future.

The Impact of Investment Funding in Community Based Organisations - Action Research Project (2008)
This project involved working with project staff and volunteers to research the impacts of the VAF approach to funding. This included a training programme where project staff took on new roles as community researchers. The research reported on benefits and also made recommendations for future investment funding.
